about us...
Petersfield Youth Theatre was founded in 1990. We are a registered charity working to advance the education in music and theatrical arts amongst children and young people aged 5 - 25. The company is run entirely by volunteers, who employ theatre and education practitioners to direct productions, workshops and projects.
Our aim is to create an environment where young people feel comfortable and learn through positive experiences, constantly pushing the boundaries of youth theatre and always aiming to cover new and interesting ground.
There are currently over 300 PYT members between the ages of 8 and 25 yrs. In addition we run First Steps workshops for 65 children between the ages of 5 and 8 yrs.
During 2007 we have organised termly workshops for all members, a Spring Season with a play and a Cabaret performed by Year 9+, an Easter Challenge for members and non members, specialist workshops during the Summer Term, the sell-out Autumn Season of two major productions; West Side Story and The Wind in the Willows and still to come, our Christmas production, Follow the Star (see What's on). All our activities take place in and around Petersfield, Hampshire.
